My name is Avani D'Souza I am a student in high school. This organization honors my grandfather John D'Souza, a selfless, compassionate, and kind man who dedicated his life to helping the less fortunate. I started this organization not only to continue his good work but also because I have always been deeply passionate about helping others, it is a core element of who I am. Growing up near the busy yet beautiful city of New York, I never experienced the hardships that many of these young children face on a daily basis. However, as a prosperous and driven student who hopes to attend medical school someday and as someone who has been instilled with strong values by my family, I believe it is important to support those in need. I am aware of the difficulties some people may encounter, and I want to use this organization and my life to assist these young children living in impoverished areas of India, just as my grandfather did 40 years ago. Furthermore, Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." I strongly believe that to be true because each of us has the power to transform the world through our small deeds, ambitious goals, and big hearts.
