Over the course of several years, India has begun emerging as a global leader in public health, there have been several economic improvements in education, business, and healthcare. The government has currently pushed for many policies and initiatives to improve the healthcare system, especially for rural populations. For example, the Ayushman Bharat scheme provides healthcare coverage to over 500 million people. Yet, while this is only one example of an initiative for the healthcare system, there still continue to be challenges in funding for hospitals, supplies, and infrastructure. Some problems that are currently faced are that there is a shortage of some hospitals in India, especially in rural areas that may lack equipment and resources. According to the National Health Profile, India has 0.9 beds per 1000 population of which 30% are rural areas.
